El Obrero
As your taxi pulls off the road onto a dirt track, heads under the motorway and eventually stops beside a down-and-out building, you’ll be questioning whether this is the same Obrero everyone’s told you about before you set off to La Boca.
Don’t be worried, this is the normal approach to the area’s most famous culinary son. Inside Obrero, the walls are cluttered with football scarves, soda bottles, more football memorabilia, a few more Boca Juniors crests and, of course, pictures of ‘El Diego’ lifting the Jules Rimet in 1986.
Like El Deznivel in San Telmo, the walls appear to be crumbling down around you, and los baños resemble an out-house. But the indoor grill, whose chimney pokes out of the interior walls, is idolized for its bife de chorizo (steak). You are here for a classic Argentine meat feast, so loosen your belt and take your time.
