Get your teeth into Palermo Chico’s residential neighbourhood. Corner café Voulezbar has a dedicated following of wealthy girls who still live with their parents, budding professionals still junior enough to get away from the offices during the day, and their bosses on a break.
This is a real locals’ place – to come and drink coffee, criticize people’s outfits, gaze at Argentine men’s bottoms and talk about whose house they are going to stay at in Punta del Este during the summer.
The chunky diced lamb sandwiches (sadly now taken off the menu) are to be shared, unlike the cakes, which girls seem to guard with their lives. The coffee is served in French china, not the usual Italian brand espresso cups, and the chat, generally, is very enjoyable to overhear (‘She shouldn’t be eating that. Do you know how many complex carbs there are in an angel cake?’).
Voulezbar is for breakfast, late breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea and dinner – whatever vous voulez.
UPDATEVoulezbar has opened a cool lounge in the basement. This sexy bar serves inspiring drinks and some interesting tapas for the peckish. Happy Hour starts around 7.30 pm when it gets packed out with porteños from Palermo who meet up to relax after a crazy working day downtown.
