If you’re an aspiring polo player, then this one’s for you. Cuernavaca is Pilar’s local ‘Mediterranean’ nightclub where the resident DJ plays what he calls una ensalada mixta (‘a mixed salad’) of everything, where the Eye of the Tiger, YMCA, Madonna, Cumbia Villera, commercial trance and the Rolling Stones are all tossed up.
Dressing the salad is a following of twenty-somethings who have popped out from their weekend houses after the family barbecue, the polo crowd who keep their stable of ponies in Pilar Chico and a sprinkling of the older generation out for a dance with the missus.
This is a lightweight alternative to the Buenos Aires clubbing scene, with a hassle-free vibe and a friendly atmosphere. You do, however, have to drive for an hour from the centre of BA to get here.
