Hg2 : The Hedonist

Bar Uriarte

You will see the chefs flashing their pans as you stroll into Uriarte – ‘stroll’ being the operative word at this stylish eatery. Rumour has it that a waitress was fired for smiling too much at the customers, so keep your game face on.

Bar Uriarte is of the same ilk as El Gran Bar Danzon (from the stable of restaurateurs who also co-own Sucre), but it has its nose in front as a dining location because the music is pumped out at a more civilized volume and there is more room for cuddling in cavernous sofas, as well as al fresco dining.

The stuffed mushroom starter has garnered quite a reputation in this part of Palermo Viejo, and the main courses, while Argentine-based, have a touch of the Mediterranean and Italian to them. On your way back from the bathroom, peer down and watch the chefs scuttling around the urban metal kitchen creating delicious morsels.

We recommend you stay for a drink after dinner, but consider Casa Cruz, one of Argentina’s most fashionable restaurants, for further cocktails. Controversially we must say steer clear of Casa Cruz’s kitchen, but it is certainly worth popping down the road to try one of their celebrated bartender Ines’ cocktails.
