Salta
Bolivia, Chile and Paraguay, as well as six other Argentine provinces, border the northwestern province of Salta. The city itself was founded in 1582, and the towns and villages are not only fine examples Spanish colonial architecture but also bear witness to their Diaguita-Calchaqui and Inca heritage.
rn
rnThe first people to live here called the area ‘Sagta’, which in the Aymara language means ‘the very beautiful one’. Salta is a stunning part of Argentina to visit.
rn
rnThe Calchaqui valleys are famous for their vineyards and their breathtaking multi-coloured rock formations. After the glaciers and the Iguazu falls, Salta should be third on your list. The House of Jasmines is the best hotel in the area.
