O On Kloof
A dark chocolate-coloured house on Kloof Road, the busy road that links Sea Point with Camps Bay (not to be confused with Kloof Street, the restaurant strip that runs into Long Street in town), this is one of the most sumptuously designed boutique hotels in Cape Town. Funky tunes give soul to a large open-plan space that’s dressed to impress-in one corner there’s a comfortable lounge nook with a library of books you’ll want to thumb; there’s a TV and DVD here, too. But our favourite corner is the bar-suitably stocked, its mosaic tile counter glimmers in anticipation of having your elbows polishing it. Knock back a few then head up the steps to your lavish suite-only room number 5 will do, so insist on this-where the awesome, enormous space strikes just the right balance between contemporary clean lines with pure sensual comfort. There’s everything you could want, including a private terrace where you can scope the Bantry Bay rooftops, with loungers to soak up the sun. Pop your iPod in its dock, crank the tunes and order up some bubbly, then fire up the Jacuzzi, because you’re probably going to want to settle in for the night.
