Tintswalo Atlantic

Tintswalo Atlantic is perched-literally-at the edge of the ocean below Chapman’s Peak Drive, this hidden away lodge-style retreat within the Table Mountain National Park sure numbers among the ultimate Cape Town hotels for anyone who savours the solitude of nature amidst the crash and roar of the ocean. Designed a bit like a tiny upmarket and exclusive seaside village, the 10 island suites and an additional luxury suite (each one named and styled in honour of a different island) hang on the lip of the ocean-very much safari lodge meets ocean locale. The island suites at Tintswalo Atlantic are¬†individually decorated in a mix of vibrant colours (lots of silver and predictable ocean-themed azures) and splashes of rustication, coupled with rather heavy-handed hints of glamour-elaborate chandeliers, Persian rugs, and all possible amenities to make you feel pampered. Each island-suite has a balcony from where you can get lost in the tumult of the waves below or keep lookout for whales that are frequently seen in this part of False Bay.
