La Bergerie de Planpraz
Of the Chamonix restaurants, La Bergerie de Planpraz is the place to go for traditional mountain-man food, and Michelin inspectors know it all too well. You’d think that room for 250 covers would be enough, but two sittings every lunchtime suggest otherwise. It goes without saying that booking is advisable. When it comes to wine, everything is available by the glass, bottle or indeed magnum should you be after a particularly boozy lunch. But if you want to crack on to the next slope, there’s a good selection of fast food in the snack bar. Pick from homemade sandwiches, generous crocks of tartiflette, chips, soups and pancakes. Find La Bergerie at the top of the new Planpraz cable car in the Brevent area.
