Plan Joran

Plan Joran is famed among the restaurants in Chamonix for serving the sort of French cooking usually reserved for upmarket city spots. Its liberal use of foie gras as an ingredient in appetisers and main courses is testament to this, though there are lighter options such as the shellfish in lemon and almond sauce. Expect to pay around E60 per head for a three-course lunch – wine extra – in the seated-service restaurant. If the weather is nice, enjoy a languid lunch on the south-facing terrace, while those in a hurry can grab a pizza or a light bite from the snack menu. Get there from the Lognan-Grands Montets cable car or the Plan Joran chair lift.
