If you need to be pampered, but don’t fancy paying the price of the boutique or design hotels in Chamonix, Les Aiglons (part of the Best Western group) might be the answer. Found a mere five minutes from the centre, the three-star hotel has been completely redesigned to offer a thoroughly modern stay in Chamonix.
There are 107 renovated rooms in total, a heated outdoor swimming pool with views out over Mont Blanc, a steam room, hot tub, sauna and fitness room. The on-site spa – Deep Nature – is manned by no less than eight highly trained beauticians who pamper and preen with a range of fabulous facials, mud treatments, massages and hydro jets.
And what kind of hotel would it be without something a foodie destination to speak of? Enter Restaurant Le A, which serves up simple but elegant food courtesy of head chef David Cochereau; dishes include shepherd’s pie with truffles and foie gras and bass and salmon with passion fruit and lime.
The adjoining lounge bar, meanwhile, offers snacks, tapas, warming soups and mini fondues, and provides the perfect pit-stop after a hectic day on the slope. Half board and bed and breakfast are both available.
