Most places to eat in Chamonix will be packed out with tourists, but not here. The fact that L’Atmosphere is hugely popular with locals speaks volumes; an impressive wine cellar boasts 300 different choices, while its riverside location and covered terrace with views of Mont Blanc compliment its mouthwatering menus.
Dishes include homemade venison terrine, salmon with mascarpone cheese, wasabi and ginger, cod with pumpkin, roasted wood pigeon with truffle juice and Caen-style tripe. For dessert, try the chocolate tart with ginger – belt-bustingly good! The restaurant was completed renovated in 2008, so you can expect shiny new surroundings.
