The most challenging on-piste skiing in Chamonix is to be found up from Argentière and on to the Grand Montets. Steep slopes, bowls and off-piste typify the area and is reached via a cable car from Argentière, about 20 minutes drive out of the Chamonix town.

A second cable-car takes experienced skiers up to the Aiguille des Grands Montets (3295m), which provides a spectacular  view of Les Drus, Aiguille Verte, the Aiguilles
de Chamonix and Argentière glacier.
