Hotel Manali
As far as hotels in Courchevel go, you won’t find more of an exotic affair than here at Hotel Manali. There’s more than a little Indian Raj about Hotel Manali, with outrageously opulent interiors that carry through from the public spaces and into its 25 extremely well-appointed rooms and 11 super-sumptuous suites. Meanwhile, the on-site spa takes its inspiration from further east; the name – Mahayana – is a Buddhist word for spirituality, and its extensive menu of treatments certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Just like the India of old, there is also a gentlemen’s club in the form of the Kullu Mountain Club; indulge in a pre-dinner drink here or sharpen up your ball skills over a game of billiards. Food is very much a focus here, too, with head chef Christian Salin serving up piled-high plates of Brit staples for breakfast, a barbecue on the terrace for lunch (weather permitting, of course), and an a la carte menu in the Manali dining room for dinner. There’s also a private lounge for those craving a more intimate supper, or for corporate groups looking to get rowdy without upsetting other guests.
