The glass elevator ride to this rooftop bar is a bit Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the payoff every bit as sweet. This 24th floor stunner rides the crest of the wave-shaped Jumeirah Beach Hotel and despite its astounding view of the Sheikh Zayed Road to one side and the sea on the other, it’s rarely packed. The psychedelic carpets and questionable scarlet colour scheme you’re assaulted with on entry might make you doubt your choice until you step outside and realise that those that are in on the secret are right to be smug. It really is a gem – and one of the few places in the city this high-up that you can sit outside and enjoy the slight-less-smoggy air. The pretty epic cocktail list is well executed across the board, and bowls of bar snacks arrive as soon as you sit down. And, of course, it’s particularly stunning at sunset.
