Hg2 : The Hedonist

Organic Foods

Dubai lags behind much of the world in its interest in organic – in supermarkets, you’ll be stared at blankly if you ask for free range eggs and enquiries about the pre-pitta life of your chicken schwarma will elicit a snort of derision. Thus, this Satwa stalwart has earned itself a place in the little black books of the Emirate’s health-conscious. Attached to an organic supermarket, selling everything from shampoo to shellfish and freshly-baked bread, this café makes impressive use of its neighbour’s prime ingredients to produce home-cooked staples. It’s a fairly sparse space – all white drapes, blonde wood and terracotta floors and a few ‘socks-and-sandals’ murals – but certainly pleasant enough for a lingering breakfast or lunch stop. The best value is the Friday brunch, where you can fill your boots with breakfast, salads and quiche from 11am for an all-inclusive price.
