There are Ciprianis the world over. It’s the brand that includes the luxurious likes of Harry’s Bar in Venice and the numerous Harry Cipriani outposts in New York. It’s classic luxury. Buttery tan leather upholstery. Black and white pictures of the young and the beautiful. Gleaming tableware, crisp white linens, and a menu of Italian classics. So far, so Cipriani. There are two branches in the UAE – one in Abu Dhabi and this one, Cipriani Dubai, found in the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC).
With the hustle and bustle of international finance taking place mere steps away (taken, you’d imagine, by polished brogues and high heels that better resemble art than footwear), Cipriani Dubai could feel hectic. Au contraire. Cipriani Dubai, like its sister spots, is all glamour and calm – despite the fact that it is busy week-round. (Incidentally, reservations are a must).
The menu here takes in the full sweep of Italian classics, from pasta e fagioli (pasta and beans) and pappa al pomodoro (Tuscan bread soup) to homemade cannelloni with ricotta and spinach and tiramisú. Cipriani Dubai also throws in dishes with some far-reaching international flair as well, including seared beef with yuzu ponzu sauce, olive and sesame oils, and deep fried dover sole with Japanese tartare sauce. So whatever you’re in the mood for, you can find it, and enjoy it in amongst Dubai’s bright, monied and beautiful.
