Heritage House
Beautifully restored, this house built in 1890 was later the home of one of Dubai’s great merchant princes, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Dalmouk, who was top of the pearl trade. An elegant example of an upper class mansion in traditional Emirati style, with a luxurious majlis (reception room) featuring Persian carpets and rich textiles, high walls and a sandy courtyard, the house includes a variety of lovingly restored rooms, like the charming Bride’s quarters. If you want to see how people lived in Dubai before the age of the high rise, Heritage House is the perfect place to wander through. Don’t miss the historic Al Ahmadiya School next door.
