Part hipster café, part design workshop, Marva is one of Galata’s coolest neighbourhood hangouts. A mix of local artists and students sprawl over the wide tables, flicking through design magazines or using the free WiFi, set against a backdrop of funky tunes. The café’s walls are used to display the crafty works currently on sale, and are frequently clad in quilted cushions, chunky jewellery and prints, while the beautiful old tiled floors add a touch of Turkish tradition. Homemade soups, sandwiches and cakes are served throughout the day, and there’s an open buffet brunch on weekends. Delightfully non-posey.
