The rapidly regenerating Karaköy docks area is the venue for this chic seafood trattoria, which wouldn’t look out of place in Milan. From start to finish this establishment is smart, personable and smacks of good taste. Inside the Italian influence carries forth with aqua-blue tomette floor tiles and an inspired seating arrangement of quiet dining booths, romantic tables for two and a handful of ‘who’s-the-daddy’ showpiece banquettes. There’s a relaxed upstairs and a pleasantly rough-around-the-edges outdoor terrace, too. But it’s the food that really pulls in the punters (well-dressed regulars that they are). Grilled octopus (to-die-for) and fish steaks grace the main menu along with a few meaty options including marinated fried liver and flame-seared lamb chops. A solid raki selection – connoisseurs can try Altinba or Cilingir, aficionados Efe or Tekirda – is on offer to wash down a memorable meal.
