Walking
There’s a lot to see when walking in La Grave, both in the town or out in the wild. The village centre dating back to the 12th century, with its old-world buildings and picturesque cobbled streets, makes a good old-fashioned walk one of the most highly recommended things to do in La Grave. Many of the buildings are made of stone rather than wood due to the high number of fires the village has had over the centuries. As you stroll through town, note the volcanic tuff that borders the doors and windows of many buildings and acts as insulation against the cold. The church is well worth a look. Sadly, the main road cuts straight through the centre and there is a continual flow of traffic. Alternatively, strap on some snowshoes and take a hike along any one of the trails.
