Being one of the more affordable places to stay in Vegas, the rooms at Vegas’ Palms Casino Resort hotel are not large, but all have views of either the north or south Strip and are furnished with the same beds found at the Four Seasons (made up with Frette linens to boot-something you don’t often find in Vegas, and certainly not for this price). And considering that management is targeting a youthful demographic (at least in spirit, if not always in age), stocking the room with Neutrogena bath products is very thoughtful. If you’re taller than the average tourist, several suites come with beds and showers fit (literally) for an NBA basketball player. That’s because the Maloof brothers, who own Palms, also own the Sacramento Kings basketball team. It also means that you can’t bet on any NBA games in the race and sports book. But that’s a small price to pay for beds that are 7 1/2 feet long and showers that are 6 1/2 feet high. The real draw, though, is the hipster vibe with hot clubs, popular weekly pool parties, and buzzing restaurants. Make sure you book a superior guest room in the new Tower-it rewards with a sleeker look, better amenities (such as Bose sound systems and Jacuzzi tubs), and high-rolling neighbours inhabiting the suites.
