Portas Do Sol
This is just the spot for one of those perfect Lisbon afternoons. Hours can be lost lounging in the outdoor, black cotton-covered sofas and beanbags. The dusk-orange rooftops, cobbled alleyways and castle of the Moorish Alfama district surround the football pitch-sized terrace. Before you know it the sun has set on the sparkling blue River Tajus below, the waiter plops another crisp bottle of Albarinho in the ice bucket and the whole day has disappeared.
Meanwhile, DJ’s spin soft house tunes that roll to the harmony of the happy sunshine chatter. Salads, sandwiches and burgers are served making this a brilliant boozey lunch venue. There’s also more seating in the all-concrete modern bar area, but to venture in and away from the buzzing terrace is to miss the point of the place. This is a real ‘come for a liquid lunch, stay for a liquid dinner’ kind of place.
