One of Lisbon’s relentlessly popular clubs Queens was once a gay hang-out but this warehouse club is now popular with a marginally less decadent and considerably less interesting crowd. Still, it’s a better option than most bargain-basement clubs on the docas strip.
Neon inflatables suspended from the ceiling and faux-flame candles are deliciously tacky; the mock-Hawaiian beach bar out back is even more entertaining. But you can’t knock Queens – it certainly aims to please the masses, who jostle for space on the sweaty dance-floor. Ladies’ night (every Wednesday) proves most popular. It’s a hot choice for businessmen in casual dress, intent on wooing their fawning secretaries.
