Bica do Sapato

Bica do Sapato is one of the European restaurants in Lisbon and stands alone as the slickest spot to dine in the city. Set in the pulse of Lisbon’s trendiest esplanade development, this warehouse conversion found fame by virtue of its Hollywood owner the actor John Malkovich.Views of the Rio Tejo are stunning by day and electrifying by night. The vibrant and modern interior is lifted straight from a spread in *Wallpaper and provides a fitting backdrop for the cutting-edge jet-set who arrive in packs.

Sophisticated business lunches are the order of the day, while night-time revellers prefer to let their hair down – Saturday nights are particularly raucous. The pace really picks up when the restaurant closes, and party-goers move into the adjoining café area. Literally translated, ‘bica do sapato’ means ‘point of shoe’ and you’ll see plenty on the feet of beautiful fashionistas, enjoying a few cocktails before heading to hip club Lux next door.

Despite recent claims to the contrary, the quality of food continues to be of a good standard and is a mix of seafood and modern European. Friendly chef Fernando was one-time owner of the popular Pap’ Açorda in Bairro Alto. Beautiful food for beautiful people.
