Restaurante 100 Maneiras
The first restaurant in Lisbon to offer a solely tasting menu experience, Restaurante 100 Maneiras is obviously on to something, with diners clamouring to get a table in this intimate 30-seat restaurant. The fixed-price tasting menu, the brainchild of the talented Chef Ljubomir Stanisic, is an exploration and celebration of innovative Portuguese cuisine, moving from dishes like Estendal do Bairro (“Codfish Clothesline” – dehydrated cod served with coriander aioli and red pepper coulis) to Esquizofrenia (foie gras ice cream with mushroom crumble), with palate cleansers like a strawberry, vodka and mint caviar in between. And though the cuisine is nothing if not high-end, the dining room manages to exude a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
More informal yet is Bistro 100 Maneiras, found a few streets over. It’s the sprightly younger sibling of the restaurant and offers an inventive, delicious a la carte menu festooned with dishes like sea urchin and scrambled eggs, lamb’s brains with truffled mashed potatoes, and DIY tuna tartar.
