Restaurante Albatroz
Top of the pile for beachside fine dining, a meal at Restaurante Albatroz harks back to Cascais’s regal history. The grand dining room is formal without being stuffy: smart, marble flooring, crisp white tablecloths and stellar views over the Atlantic that crashes onto the beach below. Menu highlights include poached salmon, partridge stew and chateaubriand.
Of course just-out-the-ocean, daily fish specials are served; seafood risotto and monkfish with sea clams are two of the finest plates of seafood you’ll find in Portugal. For dessert, old favourites such crêpes suzette and iced soufflé are served. But if you’ve come from central Lisbon for dinner it’s worth skipping desert for a stroll along the seafront with an ice-cream from Santini.
