Hg2 : The Hedonist

Mother Kelly’s

A key address on Bethnal Green’s flowering Paradise Row – these days, a serious contender for one of London’s best eating and drinking streets – Mother Kelly’s is a craft beer lover’s Mecca. For proof, just glance at the sleek, silver bar, whose 20+ tap handles are devoted to the finest local and international brews. Or the line of fridges flush against the bar’s lengthy left flank, which hold hundreds of bottles that can be sipped in or toted away at a discount (make a beeline for the Belgian fridge for a bottle or two of Cantillon’s much heralded sours, beloved by beer geeks everywhere). That said: even if you’re not a fan of all things hops, the vibe (industrial chic thanks to its railway arch setting, graffiti-style mural, and benches on the patio out front), the warm service, and the modest wine selection are pleasers.
