The Three Johns
The Three Johns looks like someone carved a bar on the Lower East Side out from its foundations and transplanted it to Angel. There’s the abundance of dark wood. The high, pressed tin ceilings. The exposed brick. The macabre, pseudo-Chapman Brothers art on the walls. And then there’s the booze. Though the soaring back bar is a thing of beauty, crammed with top-end bourbons and mescals, the staff here are better versed at pouring pints than mixing Old Fashioneds. But these are no stale pints of Carling. Expect top-notch craft beer offerings – and, if you’re lucky enough to time your visit right, you might even brush shoulders with industry folk on one of the venue’s many meet-the-brewer evenings.
