The Garden Cafe
Located on the site of the original 1960s Little Chef restaurant, the Garden Café specialises in 1960s-inspired British classics made using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The 1960s-furnished hexagonal structure and wooden-clad interior are flooded with natural light thanks to the large glass panels that provide views onto the rose gardens of Regent’s Park. A central service counter acts as a divide between the self-service café, which offers drinks, pastries and snacks and the restaurant, where warming roasts, casseroles and traditional Ploughman’s lunches are the order of the day. In keeping with its natural setting, the experience varies according to the season – in summer, live jazz bands play in the outside area, and theatre-goers gather for pre-performance meals (Regent’s Park’s Open Air Theatre is right next door), while on winter weekends, musicians from the Royal College of Music perform. Glorious Englishness.
