Ham Yard Hotel
It’s mind-boggling trying to figure out what existed in the open thoroughfare between Ham Yard and Denman Place before the Firmdale takeover. Not that it matters, because the immaculate outdoor terrace area, filled with tables of people chatting over plates of deliciously alluring food is a far better reality.
Inside Ham Yard bears Firmdale’s signature bold patterns, textures and colour that fill every available surface. Each of the 91 rooms is individually decorated, with floor-to-ceiling loft-style windows allowing guests to play Peeping Tom to the busy world outside. The spacious dining room comfortably seats 102, framed by a beautiful Martha Freud light installation and Crittall doors that open onto the terrace. The guest-only rooftop terrace on the fourth floor delivers wonderful views of London’s famous Theatreland and skyline – unwinding on the Whitman benches among the flowers and vegetable and herb gardens, it’s easy to forget you’re in one of the busiest spots in town.
For something truly special, look no further than the events spaces, which we hope will become fully accessible to the general public. From the kitsch grandeur of the dive bar, which features a 3ft neon diver hanging on the wall, to the classic 1950s style bowling alley, imported all the way from Texas. Not to mention the “club” area where guests can party under the watchful eye of two fierce-looking driftwood crocs. Recoup at the Soholistic spa — a new edition for the Firmdale Group — where guests can unwind with treatments created by TEMPLE SPA.
