ME London is bringing an enlivening, design-oriented presence to The Strand, an area of the city once considered the province of grand dames. This youthful hotel thrives on the bold: from the stark chrome and black entryway, perfumed with watermelon and cucumber, to the incredible first floor reception area (housed within a 30-meter black and white marble pyramid, the check-in desks shimmer with a projected light show on the inclined walls). But the undisputed highlight – with an emphasis on high – is the Radio Rooftop Bar. London is a city whose gorgeous skyline is viewable from far too few vistas; the roof on this new construction provides a breathtaking panorama stretching from Tower Bridge to Big Ben. Outdoor decks and fruit-filled cocktails are best appreciated on sunny days, though the view is still almost as impressive from indoors. Though the rooms, outfitted in black and white and minimalistically plush, make staying the night tempting, simply taking in the sights from the bar is solid night-out fare.
