Immersion Theatre has no singular home. The company’s bold re-workings of well-known tales pop up throughout London and the UK, charming all with adapted scripts and innovative storytelling. From Pinocchio to Robin Hood, it’s all about the pantomime come winter, while, throughout summer, London’s Royal Parks and remoter greens are the setting for Shakespearean classics and family favourites en plein air.
Expect the unexpected with Immersion Theatre. A lead protagonist might elbow in beside you at any point. They may even help themselves to your Champagne—you’re invited to bring your own picnic. An estranged lover could ask if you know where his fair Hermia is while a monologue continues centre stage in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Mischievous Puck is a delightful distraction here, high-fiving younger audience members and chuckling wildly as the comedic antics caused by the sprite’s own hand transpire elsewhere. Of course, there’s always the risk of the heavens contributing to the immersive side of things, but that’s all part of the fun.
Roll out a rug for the likes of The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan and The Wind in the Willows beneath balmy open skies, or wrap up warm in winter to explore Agrabah with Aladdin or enjoy the power ballads of Rock of Ages. Family musicals written by the award-winning company are its newest offering. Keep an eye out for fast-paced, original drama, all performed with Immersion Theatre’s something-for-everyone signature.
