Bad Egg
On a weekend morning, there are few places better to be than Bad Egg. Found in Moorgate, this restaurant-cum-diner offers a seriously bad ass brunch. What else would you call prosecco on tap, as well as bottomless Bloody Marys and Mimosas? While it temporarily closed its doors for a six-month hiatus, Bad Egg came back better and boozier than ever in mid-2017 ready to serve the suited and booted City diners. It seems London just couldn’t do without its bad eggs.
Eggs do feature prominently on the menu. There are fried eggs, three-egg omelettes, and scrambled egg breakfast tacos (given a flavour kick with chipotle, salsa and guacamole). Boiled eggs and soldiers, pulled pork and kimchi hash topped with a fried egg, and the Bad Egg burger, which features a soft egg yolk, beef patty, nduja cheese fondue, pickles, onion and yellow mustard. It’s eggs galore. There really is an egg dish for everyone here.
But there’s plenty more to tuck into at Bad Egg. In true diner fashion, there’s French toast and American-style pancakes, which you can enjoy with everything from maple syrup to fried chicken. And a whole plethora of more restaurant-style eats, including superfood salads, burgers, and sandwiches. For those not lucky enough to be able to linger over a weekend brunch, or a lazy weekday lunch, there’s a takeaway option. Meaning there’s really no bad time to visit Bad Egg.
