The Colony Grill Room
Built on the site of a 1920s garage, The Beaumont was the highly-anticipated hotel debut of restaurant tycoons Chris Corbin and Jeremy King. Of course it was only fitting that the hotel would have a stellar restaurant. The intimate elegance of The Colony Grill Room is positively Gatsby-esque. This Art Deco triumph is bedecked with murals from American artist John Mattos, and portraits of the glamorous superstars of bygone eras that look down at the sumptuous ox-blood banquettes.
The Colony Grill Room’s nostalgic menu is redolent of the classic grill rooms of New York, with comfort food staples ranging from the shrimp cocktail to a heartwarming Shepherd’s Pie sitting alongside old-school savouries (we’re talking Scotch Woodcock and Welsh Rarebit). The marble bar, meanwhile, serves a selection of expertly-mixed classic cocktails and the whole establishment is filled with the same evocative retrospection that Corbin & King have become known for in their other London ventures, like The Wolseley, Delaunay, Colbert, and Fischer’s.
