London Capital Club
This plush private club in the heart of the Square Mile, set in suitably resplendent Grade-II listed premises, is within shouting distance of the Bank of England, Lloyd’s and the Stock Exchange. Accordingly it plays host to a paying membership of City executives who use it for business entertaining. Although it’s members-only at lunchtime, its restaurants, the Walbrook Grill and the Club Brasserie, can be booked by the great unwashed for dinner and breakfast respectively. The latter, served Monday to Friday, in a handsome modern dining room on the lower ground floor that’s decked out with ochre leather banquettes, is the perfect start to the day for anyone who wants to play at being a captain of industry. Options run from healthy porridge oats with honey, to the hearty London Capital Club Full English that includes Cumberland sausage and black pudding.
