Min Jiang, one of the best Chinese restaurants in London, sits on the 10th floor of the Royal Garden Hotel on Kensington High Street. The wall of windows give expansive views out over Hyde Park towards the gleaming buildings of Mayfair in the background and the city beyond. The clean modern decor of the linear restaurant is framed by the panorama on one side and shelves holding vases and bowls on the other. The bar to the right of the entrance is sumptuously warm, and one of the few places in Kensington to find a proper cocktail in a sophisticated surround.
The food, which let’s face it we all come for, is delicious. They specialise in delectable dim sum where the menu is extensive and the little dumplings beautifully prepared; and magnificent Beijing Duck that needs to be pre-ordered and then cooked in a wood-fired oven and served three ways – the first of which being little portions of flavoursome duck skin, dipped in white sugar to bring out the richness of the taste.
With attentive service and wonderful presentation Min Jiang is as much special occasion treat as it is lunchtime canteen for smart locals.
