The Ivy Market Grill
The first offshoot of the classic London restaurant The Ivy, The Ivy Market Grill opened in Covent Garden in 2014. Designed as a more approachable version of its parent, The Ivy Market Grill’s interior manages to be both wonderfully old-fashioned and attractively zeitgeisty. High arched windows illuminate worn blue banquettes and along one wall a long, zinc-topped bar houses an expert team who mix superbly crafted cocktails for the assembled diners. The all day menu is typical Ivy: a mix of British and European comfort foods, ranging from potted shrimps to chicken Milanese. There’s a weekend brunch, afternoon tea and a separate café menu for those after something a little lighter and less formal. A welcome addition to the area, the Ivy Market Grill is doing its bit to haul the rest of Covent Garden upmarket.
