For an entirely eclectic mix of thrift stores and chic boutiques, look no further than Notting Hill. One trip down the famous Portobello Road has most shoppers emerging at the other end with armfuls of fantastic vintage finds – clothing, books, even furniture – it really is an unkempt treasure trove. Cute nostalgia shops are stuffed to the rafters with original, rare, and sometimes designer goodies to pick up for bargain prices.
Worlds apart from Portobello’s paraphernalia (yet only down the road) is the immaculate and completely current Westbourne Grove. Boutiques bursting with a global selection of luxury goods, from wafty resort-chic clothing to lavish scented candles feature at regular intervals, and there’s also a great brasserie (202) in which to watch Notting Hill’s socialites float by.
