Hg2 : The Hedonist

Selfridges

With its grand neoclassical façade, Selfridges is something of a temple to consumerism – one of the most modern and famous department stores in London. Many place their faith in its problem-solving powers: ‘Argh: want cool outfit, need clever present, run out of aftershave and I’m starving… Selfridges!’ As Britain’s second biggest shop (after Harrods), there’s room to please everyone: fashion from McTopshop to McQueen, books, toys, electrics, homeware, and food to satifsy the pickiest of eaters. It’s arguably the most progressive department store, and hosts in-store festivals, previously themed on Bollywood, Punk and Surrealism. If that requires a human window display, so be it.
