Hg2 : The Hedonist

Cowshed

Cowshed is so-called after its first location in the cattle shed of Babington House (the exclusive Somerset retreat favoured by media moguls, pop stars and supermodels), and is the designer amongst spas in London. The bovine theme is evident at the first outpost in London, too, in the white pales that serve as bins in the bathrooms and the quirky names of the 100% vegetarian Cowshed products (such as Dirty Cow Hand Wash and Frisky Cow Invigorating Foam Bath). Design guru Isle Crawford is responsible for the modern yet rustic interior. Upstairs a dazzling circular chandelier looms above three white leather armchairs that are used for manicures and pedicures, while at the back customers are encouraged to chat with friends over organic snacks (soups, sandwiches, muffins and fresh fruit juices are on offer) around a large communal wooden table. For the time-poor, Cowgroom treatments (where two therapists work simultaneously) take place in basement cubicles, separated by earthy hessian curtains and complete with individual plasma screen TVs and DVD players. Body treatments and massages can be enjoyed in the more discreet timber-clad treatment room.
