Firefly is continually feted as the most romantic bar-slash-restaurant in Los Angeles, the low profile exterior – there’s no sign outside, just look for the ivy-covered wall – adds literal proof to the fact that it’s hard to find a hotspot in the Valley, but the interior shows you don’t have to drive over the hills to find a hip, classy hangout. Firefly is all drawing room chic: draw up to the stately bar for a cocktail, or sink into the lounge’s long couches alongside floor-to-ceiling bookshelves packed with random volumes to page through, or be seated around the massive fireplace on the outdoor patio for dinner with your drinks (reservations, or great patience, necessary) and be tolerant of smokers in the close open-air environs. Fair warning for the bashful: the restrooms are unisex.
