An unpretentious stand (for Los Angeles, anyway) that sits just off Pacific Coast Highway, the Reel Inn is the place to go when you’ve spent a long day on the beach, you’ve got salty hair and sandy shorts, you’re starving and in a great mood and want to taste the ocean just a little while longer. Yes, it’s a stand, but don’t think of this as some second rate, overrated spot that’s just capitalising on an exquisite location. This place serves up generous all varieties of auspicious aquatic delights, from freshly caught tuna to generous fried fare platters. Order from the window, find a spot on one of the picnic benches, and contemplate the vast blue expanse in front of you . . . Or the PCH traffic. There’s plenty of that, too.
