Musso and Frank
A trip to LA isn’t complete without an extra-dry drink at this Hollywood haunt. It’s like Charlie Chapman without his hat. Play it right, however, and you could be following in the footsteps of the man himself. Request table no.1 in the west room – it was the comedic character’s place of preference.
This long-standing great has been graced by a who’s who-like list of American Literature greats – Ernest Hemmingway, William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald – as well as those all important stars of the show – Humphrey Bogart, Sean Penn et al. Work is even in progress to create a new literary salon.
It’s been here so long it’s beyond social standing. This is nothing short of a Hollywood institution. Complete with classic old school style– think oak beams, red-leather booths and mahogany room dividers.
Opened way back in 1919 to cater for those high-flyin’ types from the big apple, Musso & Frank specialise in grilled meats, a million-dollar menu and the cocktails to match. Not to mention the service.
Sit at the counter, retort “extra-dry Martini” from their “waddyawant” throw back and soak up the memories. Splash on supper too, should you wish. But make sure you go.
