Diurno
Wander past the window at Diurno and you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled on an Apple showroom but this is one of the trendiest cafes in Madrid where a young and upwardly mobile crowd come to hang out and enjoy the free Wi-Fi with a cup of coffee or a fruit juice.
Located in the gay quarter of Chueca, Diurno attracts a mixed bunch, who can pick up anything from a salad and a sandwich, to a rental DVD or a tub of Ben & Jerry’s. The aforementioned windows also serve as a great spot from which to people-watch, given that the place is situated on one of the area’s busier thoroughfares. It’s also a worth picking up flyers and free guides to what’s on in the city, much of it available in English.
