La Bardemcilla may sound a little familiar, the reason being that this quaint tapas bar in Madrid is run by the sister of Oscar-winning actor, Javier Bardem. But rather than relying on that famous surname to get punters through the door, Mónica has created a place that turns our excellent versions of the staple options, such as potato croquettes, meatballs and chorizo.
If there aren’t celebrities dining at La Bardemcilla during your visit, then you can enjoy perusing the Bardem family album plastered onto the walls – after all, Ma Bardem was also an actress, and there are several other famous members of the clan out there as well. A small gripe would be the service, which, frankly, can be poor. But get there just before the 3pm rush, and you should be served quickly enough.
