Like many bars in La Latina, Madrid, Lamiak really comes into its own on a Sunday, when a DJ takes to the decks in the corner to provide a soundtrack for the constant stream of afternoon drinkers who float in and out of the packed venue. Lamiak is a Basque-style place, with huge pintxos piled with all sorts of delicious ingredients sat atop the counter, just waiting for you to pick them.
If you don’t fancy the usual beer or long drink, you can also plump for an Asturian cider. The crowd is young and friendly, as reflected by the various outlandish exhibitions of artwork and photography that often adorn the walls. It’s not a place for a quiet drink, but it is a chance to see the neighbourhood at its best.
