AC Santo Mauro
A-list guests staying at AC Santo Mauro, one of the luxury hotels in Madrid, could be forgiven for barely venturing from the grounds of this classic palacette, set in sumptuous gardens. High stuccoed ceilings and marble fireplaces provide a sense of regal grandeur at AC Santo Mauro, while cutting-edge modernity abounds in the bedrooms, which have been stylishly decorated in designer fabrics, furniture and soft chocolate and grey tones.
This beautiful, elegant hotel is where the Beckhams stayed while they were searching for a permanent Madrid address. Need we say more? It’s the former residence of the Marquis of Santo Mauro and is located in a quiet, leafy street in the wealthy Chamberí district where the Spanish nobility once lived. What’s more, the hotel has been completely renovated as of September 2011. There are only 51 bedrooms, which is surprising considering the vastness of the lobby and public areas. The small number of guests makes the hotel particularly intimate and exclusive, which no doubt appealed to David and Victoria.
There’s a fabulous garden and terrace restaurant, a grand library and an indoor pool. Rooms are modern, sleek and super-luxurious and have all that you’d expect from a top five-star hotel. The staff are charming and discreet, as is demanded.
