Vincci SoMa started life as the fashionable Bauza hotel is now part of the Vinnci hotel chain in Madrid, but very little has been done to tamper with the original, retaining the cool, sleek décor. Pastel lime and berry cushions on cream sofas and beds decorate the airy parquet-floored Conranesque rooms and mini apartments, while the revamped restaurant provides a great place for lunchtime shoppers dropping in from one of Madrid’s favourite shopping districts, Goya. There are 170 rooms and suites at Vincci SoMa, with seven long-stay apartments. Some feature large, decked terraces, but all have the requisite satellite TV, video games and spacious bathrooms. The Salamanca location is a little out of the tourist centre, but on the brightside the El Corte Inglés department store is just a two-minute walk away, and the Retiro park 10 minutes. The Goya metro station will take you into the city centre in a matter of minutes.
