Hg2 : The Hedonist

Madrid restaurants don’t come more fusion than Korgui, a modestly-priced Mexican-run restaurant-cum-cocktail bar, set on a sleepy pedestrian stairway in the heart of postcard picturesque Madrid de las Austrias. Medium-sized creative dishes are Mediterranean, Mexican and Japanese attracting a mainly international, well-groomed crowd.rn

An Italian starter menu of tempuras, pizzetas, spaghettis and tallarinis also includes a wide selection of salads spiced up with sprigs of mint, mozzarella, noodles, pasta, radish, rocket, red berries and goats cheese. Main courses include duck, lamb, tacos, sashimi, teriyaki, veal carpaccio and bacalhau with tofu and orange honey.rn

The swish black and red interior at Korgui looks out onto and private terrace where diners are sprayed with artificial mist in summer and warmed by gas fire in winter. This relaxing, quiet lunch spot becomes more animated by night as the cocktail waitresses get busy.
