Laydown – the name says it all so forget the concept of sitting down at a table and chairs to eat at this Madrid restaurant, and get comfy on a pristine white mattress instead. That’s the USP of Laydown, a restaurant that puts as much focus on its entertainment as it does on the food – which, by the way, is very good. The comfy beds, which are partitioned from the neighbours by oblong pillows, make this a good choice for a big group, or indeed for an intimate, semi-horizontal dining experience with your partner.
Most nights there is some kind of music and/or a performance, which occasionally involves very scantily clad dancers – so perhaps avoid taking your grandma down. It should be noted that the alley leading to the restaurant may well rank up there as one of the dirtiest and ugliest in all of Madrid, but that’s a small criticism for what is a one-of-a-kind experience in the city.
